3.5L EcoBoost V6

The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is the engine to choose if you’re after the F-150 truck’s top towing capabilities. With a 14,000-pound towing capacity, 3,250-pound payload capacity, and ten-speed automatic transmission, expect to haul to your heart’s content. The 3.5L EcoBoost outputs an impressive 400 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Find this engine available on the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims.

5.0L V8

If your main concern is your truck’s payload, you can’t do any better than the 5.0L V8 powertrain. This engine has a best-in-class payload rating of 3,325 pounds, ideal for packing your truck with every tool and crew member that you need for the job. Shift from gear to gear with the ten-speed automatic transmission and take advantage of the 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque with this well-rounded engine. The 5.0L V8 engine is available on the 2021 F-150 XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trim levels.

3.0L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel

If a diesel engine configuration is what makes your heart skip a beat, the 3.0L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel is designed with you in mind. Producing 250 horsepower, 440 pound-feet of torque, and 1,840 pounds of payload, this is the light duty engine of light duty engines in everything except towing. The 3.0L Power Stroke can tow up to 12,100 pounds when properly equipped. Pair this engine with the 2021 F-150 Lariat, King Ranch, or Platinum trim levels.

2.7L EcoBoost V6

The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 will keep your energy focused on getting the job done right. With 325 horsepower, 400 pound-feet of torque, and a ten-speed automatic transmission, this engine is ready to take your workday far. Haul your crew and lumber with 2,480 pounds maximum payload. The 2.7L EcoBoost is available on the 2021 F-150 XL, XLT, and Lariat trims.

3.3L Ti-VCT V6

If you just need a light duty hauler with essential functions, have a look at the standard 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine, which can carry up to 1,985 pounds of payload in the cab. This engine produces 290 horsepower, 265 pound-feet of torque, and is matched with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 is standard on the 2021 F-150 XL and XLT trim levels.

  • GVWR. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), is how much your truck can weigh total when all cargo and passengers have been loaded.
  • GCWR. Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) is the total weight of the pickup truck, passengers, cargo, and the trailer being towed.
  • GAWR. Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) is the highest weight a single axle can hold.
  • Gross Trailer Weight. When your trailer is fully loaded with cargo, Gross Trailer Weight is the total amount that your trailer and cargo weigh combined.
  • Gross Tongue Weight. Typically, ten-percent of the Gross Trailer Weight is the Gross Tongue Weight. Gross Tongue Weight is weight placed on hitch ball by the coupler.
